The Tiger City Jukes were founded in 1995 by singer/guitarist Knut Eide and guitarist Harald Stokke. They wanted to make a blues band that could go beyond just playing the good old standards and create a sound of their own. Raw, tight, melodic, groovy, catchy etc. - these terms speak of Tiger City Jukes. When they play, tables are gradually moved so that there is more space to dance. There's a sense that the guys bridge the space somewhere between The Doors and Kurt Weill. It's dark sometimes and melancholic blues melodies tend to permeate. Direct comparisons Kurt or Jim are not totally justified though since TCJ has their own finger-snappin' thing happening. Blues with mood. (http://dwmmusic.com/)
