I first heard Bap in 1982 when I arrived in Germany as private in the US Army. The monster hit off this album was Verdamp lang her, which loosely translated into English means," Been here so Godamn long". Bap led by Wolfgang Niedecken have described as the German equivalent of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Influenced by Springsteen and Dylan, Bap created lively music that spoke to the irony and ambiguity of growing up in west germany in the 70's and 80's. You may not understand the lyrics but you will feel the heart and soul of this band if you listen to this great album. (James Hicks)
