Discovered Leeann Atherton playing live in Austin just last week. Had a great time dancing to her lively and expressive music. Turns out she is a well seasoned singer/songwriter with a flair to draw from blues and soul weaving it into a nice tight package with a rock and roll country flair. This CD has a wide range of material that Leeann sings with voice that sounds a little like Bonnie Raitt, but with more range and expression. The common thread is the complex relationships between men and women which Leeann interprets with great insight. Especially right now I like "If You Can't Love Me" and "I'm Not Responsible", but buying the whole CD is well worth it as a complete collection of tracks that have been arranged to become more than the sum of the parts. Playing the CD from start to finish is a very satifying listening experience. (Karl J.)
