Joshua 1975 Willie And The Hand Jive And Other Music To Boogie To

Excellent hard boogie rock from this group, whose identities remain unknown. The only clues come from the back cover that states the vocalist is Dick Dodd from the Standells and the producer is Ed Cobb (also Standells producer and Chocolate Watchband). Quality hard rock with a southern rock influence (although this was a Californian project), a statement which is underpinned by their song choices as well. The record contains covers of rock standards such as 'Willie and the handjive', 'Harlem Shuffle' where they give a superb version, 'I Just Want To Make Love To You' which is played with a Lynyrd Skynyrd style or ZZ Top's 'I thank you'. This is a great release and remains still obscure. (ocean_boogie)
